OH-58D "Kiowa" Helicopter Pilot - 2nd Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment, 25th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

CWO2 Earl R. Scott, III died at age 24 in Tikrit, Iraq, of injuries sustained when their OH-58D helicopter crashed.  Also killed was CWO2 Mathew C. Heffelfinger.

Chief Warrant Officer 2 Earl Raymond Scott, III (Scotty) was born in Miami, Florida and moved to Jacksonville, Florida when he was one year old.  The 2003 Mandarin High School graduate set high goals for himself and began a thriving landscaping business while attending FCCJ where he received a fixed wing pilot license.  In March of 2006, he sold his landscaping business, enlisted and was accepted to the U.S. Army (Ft. Rucker) where he became a helicopter pilot working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Aviation. He was then stationed in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii in May, 2008.  Scotty arrived in Tikrit, Iraq in September, 2009 and paid the ultimate sacrifice November 8, 2009.

Scotty and his brother, Bill, began riding four wheelers at a young age advancing to dirt bikes.  He loved camping, fishing, surfing, kite surfing, his drums, riding his Ninja and Harley Nightster. Was most passionate about flying.....Sable, the pitbull, was his faithful companion and traveled with him when possible.  Scotty was brave, fearless, fun and always in motion.

Dearly loved and supported by his parents and family.  Scotty was an inspiration to his friends. Words cannot express how much he is missed by his family and many, many friends.

Thank you for inspiring us Scotty!!  We love you.
